Thanksgiving Food Review: Desserts

Thanksgiving food dessert

Thanksgiving. When you hear the word, the first thought that comes to mind, after being thankful and helping others out, is food. Good food.

But among the many traditions of Thanksgiving is the wonderful meal shared with loved ones.

In preparation for Thanksgiving, here at Yard Couch we are looking at the best options for each category. We will be rolling out reviews for popular dishes served on the holiday.

This review will be focused on desserts. Some believe in saving dessert for last, others believe life is too short to not eat the best part first. Whatever time you indulge in dessert, here are some options.

Festive Options

Pumpkin pie can only be served about three months of the year. Like many other Thanksgiving food options, it doesn’t taste the same during a different season. It might not be everyone’s favorite but it’s festive enough that people will appreciate it.

Another pie option is apple pie. Some people may associate it with summer, but others agree if you were to pick a season for it, that season would be fall. The difference between pumpkin and apple pie, besides the flavor, is that apple pie can be enjoyed almost any time of year. Don’t let that discourage you from enjoying an extra-large slice of it on Thanksgiving.

Classics

A classic option, for Thanksgiving or any day of the year, cookies. You would be hard-pressed to find one person who doesn’t enjoy this option. Plus, there are so many options you can choose from. Chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, sugar cookies, and more. You can make your own or pick some up from the store.

Another option that often gets overlooked, pound cake. Pound cake is not the most exciting dessert, but if you are making something from scratch it’s a great option. You only need four ingredients: flour, butter, eggs, and sugar. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.

Whether baking something on your own or picking up something from a store, you can never go wrong with any dessert option. That goes for Thanksgiving or any other day of the week.
